Camilo Egaña is the anchor for the show Encuentro on CNN en Español. He also hosts Contrastes, a time capsule where the stories of our lives are presented against the reality of the world we live in on CNN Latino, a new programming block custom made for the U.S. Hispanic market.

Engaña joined CNN en Español on October 2010 as the anchor for Mirador Mundial. He has more than 20 years of journalistic experience on the radio, television and news agencies in Cuba and Miami.

Before turning 20 years of age he began with print journalism and turned into the youngest column writer in the country. Later he dedicated himself to radio and became the creator, co-producer and host of the show “De Mañana” for Radio Taino, and was also in charge of a variety show for Radio Ciudad in Havana.

In 1995 after several years on radio, Egaña became the writer, co-producer and host of “Decida Usted,” in which he recieved the award for best host, and “La Noche Se Mueve”, both part of Cubavision.

In 1996, he came to Miami and became a reporter for Telemundo. Before this, he was anchor and producer for the news show of the channel, and from there he covered the most important local events that occurred from 1996 to 2006.

After 10 years of working at Telemundo, Egaña was hired for Mega TV in Miami so that he could be in charge of anchoring the daily shows “Mega News” and “Implicados”, as well as the weekly show “Recuerdos y Raices”.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Egaña recieved his degree in Spanish and Hispanic Literarute in Universidad de la Habana, and took a post graduate production course in Spain after recieving a scholarship from the Spanish government. He has been a journalism professor in Havana and Mexico. He speaks Spanish and English.
